Financing research and innovation
Besides a regulatory framework that is conducive to innovation, public funding plays an important role in leveraging investment in research and innovation projects in Europe. This is crucial on the way to reach the EU target of spending 3% of its GDP in R&D by 2020.
The EU framework programmes for research and innovation (FPs) are unique funding instruments and means to turn excellent ideas into new products, services and solutions benefiting European citizens. It is also an important step to support sustained economic growth, address societal challenges and bring innovation closer to the market. EU programmes matter to European business as a leading global actor and participant in research and innovation projects.
