Unleashing cross-border services - report on implementation of the services directive
BUSINESSEUROPE's brochure "Unleashing cross-border services" provides a practical assessment of the state of implementation of the Services Directive and the functioning of the points of single contact (PSCs). It points to areas for improvement, one year after its transposition deadline. The brochure was first presented on 31 January 2011 at the BUSINESSEUROPE-EUROCHAMBRES joint event "Implementation of the Services Directive – one year on", in the presence of Commissioner Michel Barnier. A lot has been achieved since the adoption of the Services Directive in 2006, but there is still much room for improvement, in particular with regard to the functioning and user-friendliness of PSCs. National governments must fully implement the directive and are encouraged to go beyond its minimum requirements to create a genuine single market for services.
