Pursuing platform clarity for business users

Early this morning, trilogues concluded on the platform to business proposal. The Commission, Council and Parliament agreed their final text on a Regulation that aims to elevate transparency and fairness in our platform economy.   

BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer commented: “Platforms have greatly benefitted business users in their bid to reach new, untapped markets. Yet this convenience has become a reliance for some. The actions of a platform can greatly impact a business running on it. That is why we have supported this proposal to ensure business users can better determine their relationship with the platforms that they decide to offer on. At the same time these harmonised rules should not limit the attractiveness of services platforms offer. We will monitor the newly created Observatory on the Online Platform Economy closely moving forward.”
