New EU Anti-Dumping Methodology – level of protection maintained
Following the agreement of the negotiators of the European Parliament and the Council today in Strasbourg, Markus J. Beyrer, Director General of BusinessEurope said: “Fair trade is the necessary complement to free trade. We hail that the EU has chosen to equip itself with robust trade defence instruments, overhauling its anti-dumping legislation while respecting WTO rules and maintaining the same level of protection for EU economic operators.”
BusinessEurope welcomes that its views were reflected in the outcome of the constructive dialogue among the EU institutions. The new methodology ensures objectivity in determining market distortions on the basis of technical criteria and workability for the industry, which means no additional workload will be imposed on EU economic operators as compared to the current legislation.
