Europe’s digital masterplan: a push into the digital age
Today, the European Commission published its digital strategy for Europe with a series of measures for the data economy over the next five years.
It is key to urgently set Europe on its path to become fit to compete in the digital age. The investment gap compared to our major competitors, the USA and China, is currently estimated at €190 billion per year. If we want to be able to deliver the benefits to our society, Europe must champion the application of trusted and human-centric artificial intelligence and enable its companies to develop and provide solutions.
BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer said: "Europe’s digital ambitions face a choice: get the balance between open innovation and societal protection correct or face a future where it is common place to buy superior AI solutions in Europe from 3rd countries in a great number of sectors to achieve our ambitions."
BusinessEurope looks forward to assisting the European Commission in taking measures to maximise Europe’s digital potential.
