BusinessEurope warmly congratulates President Tusk on the renewal of his mandate as President of the European Council.

The European business community believes that the next 2 years until the 2019 European elections will be crucial for the future of our continent. Existential policy choices are facing us: on the future of Europe, on how to organise an orderly Brexit, on how to re-create a consensus around an ambitious EU trade policy, on how to strengthen EU defence policy, on how to shape the next EU budget, on how to further improve the governance of the EMU, on how to further develop our single market, digitalise our economy and put a modern industrial policy in place, etc.

President Tusk has strong European convictions. He has proven his ability to reconcile different starting positions into smart compromises and excellent working relations with the European social partners.

BusinessEurope stands ready to continue to support him in his efforts to bring real answers to companies and citizens’ concerns and to move the European Union forward.

We are looking forward to maintaining our excellent collaboration with the European Council under his leadership.
