TTIP needs strong political commitment from both sides of the Atlantic
During a meeting with the newly appointed US Ambassador to the EU, Anthony L. Gardner, on April 14th 2014 BusinessEurope President Emma Marcegaglia stressed the importance of a strong political commitment from both the EU and US authorities to the TTIP negotiations. Expectations from the business community in the EU remain high and BusinessEurope expects a similar level of commitment from politicians to ensure that the agreement maintains its comprehensive and ambitious scope. The meeting came just before President Marcegaglia goes to Washington DC at the end of April, heading a group of high-level representatives of EU business who will meet US officials and business representatives. This visit will take place just ahead of the 5th round of negotiations foreseen to take place in Washington DC during the week of May 19th 2014.
