Diversity and equal opportunities
The EU is at the forefront of promoting equal opportunities and combating discrimination in the workplace and on labour markets. The EU and member states provide an adequate framework to address discrimination cases.
BusinessEurope fully supports the inclusion of all under-represented groups in employment and the workplace and works to encourage companies to take full advantage of all the talents available irrespective of gender, age, race and ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion and belief, or disability. Diversity is one of the elements companies need to enhance their performance and competitiveness.
There is a clear business case for diversity in employment and at the workplace. Diversity and inclusion policies at company level can facilitate the integration of under-represented groups and minorities into the labour market, and attract and retain talents.
Companies are best placed to design initiatives that support their business and respond at the same time to the needs of different groups of workers. Their better inclusion at the workplace generates broader societal benefits. The best way to promote diversity is through the sharing of voluntary approaches and examples of good practices.
