TTIP has to remain comprehensive

Speaking at the EFNI panel on TTIP on October 2nd, Markus J. Beyrer, Director General of BusinessEurope, stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of ambition in the negotiations. To have meaningful results, especially for SMEs, difficult areas like regulatory cooperation and regulatory convergence both at sector and horizontal levels have to be kept in the agreement. Scaling down TTIP would preclude important benefits for EU companies that have the most to gain from reduced regulatory hurdles or improved access to public contracts. Complexity in the negotiations must not prevent us from reaching the ultimate goal of having a high level standard agreement in a wide range of areas.
