Taking European and Russian relations forward
In an effort to assess European and Russian trade and economic relations and make recommendations that could help strengthen both partners’ strategic relationship, BUSINESSEUROPE on 5 December 2012 presented the strategy paper "Taking European and Russian Relations Forward". Without neglecting existing challenges, the strategy focuses on areas that could best promote bilateral relations. Proper and timely implementation of Russia’s WTO commitments is number one priority, as it can give impetus to modernisation of Russia’s economy, improve governance and increase stability and predictability for investment. The paper also calls for progress at bilateral level. An ambitious EU-Russia agreement could improve the regulatory framework for the conduct of business in sectors such as manufacturing, energy or services, but also prepare a visa-free regime.
