EU-Japan trade negotiations

BusinessEurope and KEIDANREN (the Japanese business association) hosted a sector-to-sector meeting in Brussels in advance of the next round of negotiations on the EU-Japan economic partnership agreement / free-trade agreement. It was agreed that, because the EU and Japan are engaged in several other FTA negotiations, both sides should try to avoid unnecessary regulatory divergence and work out a globally relevant set of rules. At a crucial moment of the bilateral negotiations, BusinessEurope urges negotiators to make progress on outstanding issues in line with the scoping exercise.
