The way forward for consumer strategy in Europe
Addressing the 2015 European Consumer Summit, Deputy Director General Jérôme Chauvin expressed BUSINESSEUROPE’s views on the future consumer strategy. He strongly stressed the need for a reality check before a new array of legislation is launched. The solution to many challenges in the digital economy lies in better implementation, enforcement and awareness of the existing rules. To avoid stiffling innovation in a fast-moving area, legislative intervention should be evidence-based, targeted and future proof.
