EU urban policy and business

Addressing the Cities of Tomorrow conference, organised by Commissioner Johannes Hahn as a forum for debate on how the EU can better approach urban policy, Markus J. Beyrer highlighted the importance of an integrated and coordinated approach by city authorities, emphasising the need to focus on energy efficiency, innovation and better mobility. The EU should work with business and city authorities to create partnerships and long-term solutions to the problems faced by cities and their inhabitants. Regarding the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities, BUSINESSEUROPE called on the Commission to build awareness of this initiative among city authorities and business alike.
