EP vote on Fuel Quality Directive: EU should strengthen security of energy supply
Ahead of the plenary vote next Wednesday, European companies urge Members of the European Parliament to take the wider strategic energy security context into account in their final decision on the Fuel Quality Directive. Markus J. Beyrer emphasised: 'As recent geopolitical developments illustrate, the EU needs to be much more assertive in diversifying its energy sources both domestically and internationally to avoid being dependent on single suppliers. Europe has a natural interest in getting more of its energy and oil supplies from politically stable regions. Canada is a reliable partner and has the potential to become a more active, additional supplier for Europe.'
