Create growth from services!
Services being the area with the biggest growth potential, it is key to remove remaining barriers to their free movement within the single market. This was stressed by Deputy Director General Jérôme P. Chauvin today at a high-level Commission conference on the future of the single market for services. Focus should be on better implementation and stronger enforcement of existing rules, he said. More mutual recognition and better assistance for companies that want to go across borders is also needed. BUSINESSEUROPE pleads for a targeted “sector-based approach” to tackle remaining obstacles and wants to see an ambitious approach to services in the Commission’s upcoming internal market strategy.
