BusinessEurope meets MEP Buzek

Director General Markus J. Beyrer discussed energy and climate policies with Jerzy Buzek, Chair of the EP Industry, Research and Energy Committee. He underlined the importance of reducing politically induced costs on energy resulting from taxation and surcharges, which leads to a persistent energy price gap that European companies face vis-à-vis major global competitors and increase investment leakage out of Europe. Together with security of supply and sustainability, cost competitiveness needs to be fully embedded in the upcoming Energy Union debate.
